Possibly, my first surgery: COMING SOON
Last week I visited the doctor for a sore throat. I had just been there last month for the same thing. While he's looking at my throat he says, "Those are the biggest tonsils I've seen in a long while." Then he asks if I've ever thought of having them removed. I told him that no one had ever suggested having them removed. Normally they just give me a prescription and send me on my way. The doctor decides to order a pulse ox test and depending on the results, I get to see the Ear, Nose and Throat specialist.
I picked up my pulse ox machine today. I was expecting this suitcase size machine that plugs to the wall with wires and antenna and such. What I got was this little cell phone sized device with a little cuff that slips over my finger. Isn't technology grand?! I guess the real test is how well I can sleep while wired to this thing. They sent me some medical tape so I can secure it "in case I move around while I sleep.
When Maryn heard about it her first words were, "I don't want you to die." Wow. I'm thinking small surgery; almost outpatient. She's thinking I'm going to die on the table. I talked to my mom and she said my dad had major complications with his. When I talked to my dad, Teri said that they keep adults over night now for tonsillectomy type surgery. Fun, fun, fun.
When it's all said and done, I hope they come out. I'm hoping this is why I can't get a good night's sleep. And all this time I've been blaming it on getting old and having kids.
