And there was much rejoicing...

At work we replace our computers every 3-4 years; once they're off warranty. We sell them on http://www.govdeals.com if anyone is interested. I've bid on a few before and even one a couple. Neither of which I got to keep. One went to my sister, one went to my aunt in Kansas.

My computer has been running hot for some time now. I couldn't figure out what it was. I still think that I got an inferior processor last time I upgraded a few years back. Since then, it's been prone to overheating and shutting off. To remedy the problem, I took the side of the case off and had a small box fan blowing in it. I've ran it that way for well over a year now. This week I had finally had enough. After a heated bidding war, I am the proud owner of a Dell Precision 360. It's a P4 3.0GHz that came with a 40GB hard drive and 1GB of ram. Lucky for me, the ram in my old machine moved over just fine, bumping me back up to 2GB of ram. I also moved my 160GB hard drive over from the other machine.

The best thing of all; Ubuntu (Linux operating system) didn't have to be reconfigured or anything. My hard drive just picked up and ran with it. I don't think I've ever had a Windows machine do that for me. It's amazing how quiet it is in here without the roar of the box fan blowing into my case! WOOHOO!
