Oui Wii!!

Melissa and I have been discussing this for a while. We kind of skimped on vacation this year and did a day trip to the zoo. We'd been saving all our money for moving (which didn't happen). We still need to move but it'll most likely be next Spring (after our tax return).

Ms. Lynn had watched the girls a few times and they always came home talking about this Wii thing she had. I had seen the Wii, and other various game consoles, at the store and never really gave them much thought. The more we talked about it, the more we were leaning towards getting some type of gaming console for the girls. We probably should have waited until closer to Christmas but I think we were feeling a little guilty about the lack of vacation.

I had heard that the Wii was an elusive creature and that was most assuredly not to be found around here. The first three stores we stopped at had blank spots on the shelves where they should be. It didn't look good. Then Best Buy stepped in to save the day. I called over and not only did they have one, they had seven in stock. We stopped on the way home from church on Sunday and picked one up.

I wasn't sure what to expect but the kids were starting to foam at the mouth in anticipation. Being the loving father that I am, I made them wait 3 hours while I mowed the lawn. After supper, I started setting everything up. Once it was all setup, they had to wait longer while Melissa finished the mowing. They had finally had all they could take so we fired it up.

The controller took a little to get used to but we got the hang of it. The girls almost did better than we did (of course they've played one before). We spent two hours together as a family playing a (video)game. We hadn't done anything together as a family for I don't know how long. We laughed, the kids laughed. We played so long, my arm got sore.

The best part so far is the available one-liners for the office. People ask, "What did you do this weekend?" "Oh, nothing. Just sat at home and played with my Wii." The look on their face is priceless. Speaking of that, I think I need to go Wii. ;)
