Cool tricks for text messagers.

I'm sure most of you already know this but I thought I'd throw it out there anyways.

  1. You can email someone a text message.  Wikipedia shows you what email address to use.  For example, to send me a text message from your email client you would send an email to: myphonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com.  Melissa uses this when she's at work since they have a no cell phone policy at the high school she works at.  On the flip side of that, I can send a text message to an email address.  Same general principle.

  2. AOL Instant Messenger will let you add a "buddy" by their cell number.  If you use AIM, when adding a buddy put "+15735551212" (whatever their number is w/o quotes) in as their screen name.  For the alias I put their name followed by "Cell."  You can name it whatever.  That's just what I did to keep it straight in my contact list.  Now, when you click on their name to "message" them, it sends them a text message to their phone.  When they respond, it pops up in your AIM message window.
