What's better than Silly Putty...

Everyone remembers Silly Putty. I mean, who hasn't played with Silly Putty? It's an American tradition. I guess it's just another thing I took for granted. As we were checking out at Hobby Lobby Friday night one of the girls looked up and asked, "What's that red egg thing? Silly Putty? What's that?" I was thinking, "You're kidding right?" Then I started thinking back. I couldn't ever remember exposing them to this fun and exciting toy from my past. Well, I don't believe in coincidence and there did happen to be three packages of it on the rack. Three packs, three kids; it just seemed meant to be. We finished there and did our grocery shopping and then hurried home to play with the Putty. You'd have thought we discovered some toy that no one had ever seen before. The level of enthusiasm from the girls was unreal. Thankfully we had some newspaper around for the coveted lifting of print trick. I'd say there was at least 20 - 30 minutes of uninterrupted, totally engrossed play. What a cheap form of entertainment.

Sunday, Paige reminded me of why we may not have tried this yet. During "nap" time (I put it in quotes because very rarely does anyone nap) Paige got the bright idea of sticking it in her ear. While she was getting it out of her ear, she got it stuck in her hair. Being the problem solving individual she is, she decided to try to wash it out with water. When she decided that she couldn't get it out, she went to her older sister who immediately yelled downstairs for us. Let's just say that after numerous attempts to remove the putty from the hair we found it was easier to remove the hair from the head. At least it was on an underside of the hair so it doesn't look that bad. Either way, I might wait a little bit before introducing anything else from my past.
