Automation is one sided....
Ok. Got a stupid question for everyone. In this day and age of click and complete tasks, why does updating my direct deposit take so long? I filled out the papers and gave them to our B&B, they faxed them to Office of Administration in Jefferson City. The deposits stopped in one account, a test deposit ran through the new account. It was explained to me that it was normal for them to do a test deposit first to make sure that everything was in order at the new bank. This happened on the January 31st payday. Well, here's the February 15th payday and still no direct deposit. It's no big deal I guess; no bills are going unpaid. I just have to wait until I get my check in the mail and bring it in for a deposit. I just don't understand the timing of things. When the paperwork went in, the deposit stopped immediatly at the old bank. The test deposit at the new bank happened at the same time so I know the new bank information is correct. Why should it take another two weeks before the checks start depositing in the right bank. And the government wonders why people call them inefficient. I could take my Visa check card to Peru and swipe it and the funds would be removed immediatly but I can't get my check from Jefferson City to deposit into my account for another two weeks. Maybe I'll start working like that. "Yea, I know you sent me that email with the job I need to do. I'm going to send you a test email back in two weeks to make sure that I have the right email address. When I know it's right, I'll wait another two weeks before even starting on the job you needed a month ago. I'll leave you a post-it note on your desk telling you that I'm thinking about working on it though."
