January 2 - 8
For a short work week, it's been a busy one. First, it was the Highland tournament. That means my lovely wife is at school 3 out of 5 nights working the basket ball games. Awana started back up this week so that was another night away from home. Maryn had a birthday party to go to so there's another night away. I wonder why we don't just buy a camper and drag it around with us. That way we're always home.
I guess the highlight of the week came Thursday when Drew (our 2 almost 3 year old) took a header into the corner of a drawer. No amount of first aid training prepared me for seeing my daughter with blood streaming down her face. I still get a little faint watching the first aid videos so this really tested my abilities. It had to happen on a night when her mom (certified life guard) was at work. I got the bleeding to stop and she got home as fast as she could. By the time we got her to the ambulatory care the bleeding had stopped and she was calm. As soon as the doctor applied the bandage, she was up and running full steam. I thank God that it wasn't any more serious than it was.
On a more serious note, please pray for my grandfather and our family. We learned that 3 of his 4 bypasses are clogged. At his age the procedure to fix the problem would do more harm than good. He is also scheduled to start dialysis this spring. Hopefully once that starts the tired feeling will pass. A praise pertaining to that is that he can get the procedure done closer to home. Instead of a 1.5 hour drive he now has a 20 minute drive to the hospital.
The week ended well with a birthday celebration for Grandpa Yarbrough and Ryan's baptism. Any time you can be there to experience a baptism I'd recommend it. It's a comforting experience to see another person join the kingdom of God. It also helps my own children get closer in their walk with God.
