God's funny sometimes
We were out doing our usual Friday night drive around Quincy. There were a few items we wanted to take back to Wal-Mart, a few things we wanted to check out at Home Depot, and we had a birthday present to find. One of the items on our list was a dog collar for Moxie. He followed a 4-wheeler home the other night and I thought he could use a collar and name tag. I had already checked Wal-Mart and didn't find anything that I liked. On a spur of the moment thing, we pulled in at the pet store out at the old K's Merchandise. I don't remember it's name (that's how often we go there.) Anyways, they had everything we needed. As we were standing there getting Moxie's tag engraved I overhear a conversation going on down one of the rows. The guy was looking for a dog kennel to keep his American Bulldog in. The store didn't sell any. He had already been everywhere else in town and the only one he could find was $300. I looked at Melissa and we had the same idea. Since we've moved, we've had one laying in our yard taking up space. I walked over and said I had overheard his conversation and I thought I could help. I told him our situation and that we had one we didn't need anymore. He offered to buy it and Melissa and I agreed on $50. It has some minor defects that could be fixed by someone with a little time and energy. I offered to meet him somewhere Saturday so I'd have time to go get it. I assumed he lived in Quincy somewhere. He actually lived about 30 minutes from Quincy and only had his buddy's truck for the night. So, he followed us home and picked it up. He got what he wanted (at close to a $200 savings) we got what we wanted (1 less item in our yard) and everybody came out feeling good. Our evening didn't turn out quite as we had planned but because we were open to a little change, we were blessed.
