Up, up, and Ubuntu!

I've been toying with running linux on my machine at home for a while. I never did it because I didn't think the wife and kids would like relearning everything. Well, since Melissa and the girls now have their own machine I thought I'd give it a try again.

This month's PC World magazine had an article on Ubuntu (Ubuntu is an African word meaning 'Humanity to others'). I had tried it before but didn't have much luck with it. Once nice thing about it is that it lets you run the OS from a "live cd" for a while to make sure you're going to like it. I played around with it for a while and then just decided to go for it.

We've been up and running for just a little over a day so far. I'd have to say I'm pretty happy with it. There are small things to get used to but overall it's a good thing.
